Emily lives in Thirsk, North Yorkshire and teaches across North Yorkshire, both provately and in schools.

Emily studied Music at The University of Huddersfield (2011-2014), gaining a BMus(Hons) degree, majoring in performance. She was Principal Oboe of the University Orchestra and Symphonic Wind Orchestra for three years as well as playing with the New Music Ensemble, Flute Choir, in a production of Purcell's The Fairy Queen and performing Bellini's Oboe Concerto with the Wind Orchestra.

Joining the Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra in 2012, on oboe and cor anglais, Emily has been on tours with the orchestra to France, the Isle of Man and two New Year tours of China, for one of which she was principal oboe. Memorable performances with SPO include Sweeney Todd, The Flying Dutchman, Mahler's Symphony No.2, Tatton Park Proms, Tosca, Britten's War Requiem and Sibelius' The Swan of Tuonela for which Emily performed the solo cor anglais.

Emily is co-founder of De Mowbray Music and the De Mowbray Music Festival. Based in Thirsk, De Mowbray Music, founded in 2020, is an exciting music and performing arts venture. Bringing some of the best professional performers together to deliver high-quality events at affordable prices, and curating exceptional community workshops and opportunities for all ages through the recent charitable status, there is a hive of activity for everyone to get involved with. Along with co-founder and Music Director Benjamin Ellin, Emily is able to offer exceptional youth performance opportunities which will be open to her pupils to enhance their learning and develop their musical skills.

Having completed a PGCE in Secondary Music at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2017, Emily has worked as a high school classroom music teacher at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy, Ripon Grammar School and Queen Ethelburga's Collegiate. Teaching the Eduqas Music GCSE and A-Level spec at all three schools has given her a great insight into the completion and marking of performance and composition coursework, so she is able to help with those aspects, as well as general exam prep and music theory.
